What’s new for ’22 in East Yorkshire
New Beginnings in East Yorkshire for 2022
Spring has arrived, and with it comes the excitement of new beginnings – trying something new or reacquainting ourselves with the things we love. After a tough year of lockdowns and restrictions, we are delighted to welcome back some old and new events in East Yorkshire, among other exciting things happening in the area. All these events are within a short distance of West Hale Gate Glamping, offering luxury shepherds hut stays for couples.
The Yorkshire Wolds Way turns the Big 4 – 0!
As we celebrate 40 years of visitors exploring the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail, there is plenty to get involved with this year. Stretching for approximately 79 miles from Hessle foreshore to Filey Bay, the Yorkshires Wolds offers some beautiful scenery with some art along the way. Sustainable homes and businesses across Yorkshire have collaborated for this celebration to provide exhibitions, local food and drink, and cultural experiences. You can also submit your favourite ideas and photos of the trail, which will be featured in a celebratory leaflet and postcard series. A recreation of the official trail on its Birthday (2nd October) will have groups walking each section simultaneously – it’s a great opportunity to explore the trail! Chose your accommodation at West Hale Gate Glamping for a comfortable stay.
Puffins! Glorious Puffins!
East Yorkshire is excited because of a new attraction: a trail of uniquely designed sculptures of puffins from July to October, like nothing you’ve ever seen before! Forty individually designed puffins inhabit some unlikely places, such as Bridlington, Beverley, Withernsea, Hornsea, and Hull. The colony stretches from Bempton to Easington and Kilnsea, and it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for the release of the puffin trails. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate East Yorkshire’s coastline with your loved ones. Don’t hesitate to book your luxury shepherds hut stay with West Hale Gate Glamping for a unique trip.
Take a Snap! of the Coast
CoastSnap is a new initiative designed to encourage everyone to take pictures of our coastline this year. Use East Yorkshire’s 26 expertly designed and crafted photo posts to take the perfect photos of our coastline, and upload them to their CoastSnap app, where every photo will be gathered to analyze seasonal changes and erosion. These posts are perfectly located at Hornsea, Flamborough, Bempton, Spurn Point, and Withernsea, and they will provide you with an excellent opportunity to snap some impressive shots. It’s a unique way to explore the area and practice your photography skills. Check out CoastSnap here.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
The landscape of East Yorkshire is known for being the home of much of J.R. Tolkien’s inspiration. Amazon Prime is releasing a new series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which explores new storylines and characters. It is a perfect opportunity to revisit Tolkien’s time in East Yorkshire during 1917-1918, when he explored many of the towns and villages along the East Yorkshire coast. Find out more about Tolkien’s time here.

If you’re traveling with family, Jump Inc Beverley is a must-visit! Jump Inc has an inflatable park across the UK, and they’re extending the Beverley site even further, adding zip lines, a neon ninja course, reaction walls, drop slides, an interactive punch wall, and trampolines.
